Noted as “Exquisite” by The Music Journal Korea, pianist Jung-Eun Kim has been praised for her musical sensitivity and technical abilities that both excite and move her audiences.
She has performed extensively throughout North America and abroad as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative artist. Her recent concert engagements include Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Palo Alto Philharmonic, Rising Star Concert Series in the Hamptons, NY and Bicentennial Celebration of the Independence of Peru held by the Peruvian Embassy, CA.
A native of South Korea, Jung-Eun made her solo debut with the Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra at age 11 performing Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1. Since she moved to the States, she has been featured on numerous national radio engagements including From the Top, Hawaii Public Radio, and WUSF National Public Radio. She also has participated in the Music for Food concert series where musicians offer performances and choose a local pantry to feature, creating meals for the neighborhood with donations from audience members.
Equally captivating as a chamber musician, Jung-Eun and her Bay Area-based L’arc Trio received an InterMusic SF grant, which allowed them to commission a brand-new work titled “Ominous Machine” by JUNO Award-winning composer Vivian Fung. She and her piano trio, winner of the Barbara Fritz Chamber Award, pursues projects that combine new works and classic pillars of the piano trio repertoire into creative, modern programs. Jung-Eun also collaborated with renowned artists such as Tessa Lark, David McCarroll, Ian Swensen, Matthew Zalkind, Brian Manker, Jean-Michel Fonteneau and Norman Fischer.
As an Osher Foundation Scholar, Jung-Eun completed her Artist Diploma in Piano Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she also received double Master’s degrees in solo piano and chamber music with Yoshikazu Nagai and Jon Nakamatsu. Her other important mentors are Leon Fleisher, Garrick Ohlsson and Paul Schenly that she has worked with through fellowship programs and lessons.
